Native Nashvillian, Thomas Workman, always loved being outside and being physical. Having grown up in the Green Hills area, his lawn mowing days started during his years at David Lipscomb High School.
After high school, he attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro where he earned his degree. "After college, I got a job in the banking industry and really didn't enjoy it so I decided to start my lawn car business again. It was a no-brainer"
And so he did….in 2001 he started Workman Lawn Services and has been servicing homes in the Green Hills, Bell Meade, Bellevue, and Brentwood areas. He is now servicing over 120 homes a week and running 3 crews. "We are growing so much in Nashville that we are looking for another truck to buy," Workman chuckles.
He also just recently opened up his new office in East Nashville. "We got a really cool place that used to be a muffler shop that we have converted into our headquarters."
He credits, "Being prompt, doing what we say we are going to do and never leaving a customer unsatisfied," as the best way to keep his business growing."
He has always gone above and beyond when it comes to taking care of his customers. "We had an elderly couple that we were regularly servicing, and they asked us to help them move some furniture for them. Before you know it, we were breaking down beds and moving everything around the house!"
Other services that his company provides are full service landscaping maintenance and tree work. "We do it all," says Workman "and we love helping homeowners with suggestions with their flowers, plants and overall lawn layout and design."
Thomas has two brothers that are in the medical field and a son named Ellis.
He enjoys fishing and playing baseball with Ellis when he is not running the day-to-day operations at his company.
Thomas has never met a stranger and has the uncanny ability to go and talk to anyone and make friends anywhere.
Don’t hold the fact that he is an avid Chicago Bears fan against him or that he rooted for Tom Brady in the Super Bowl but he and his crew will take care of all of your lawn needs and keep you out of the "weeds."
How many years have you been in landscaping business, and what inspired you to get started?
Our company has been in business for 15 years.
How does your work stand out from other lawn service companies in the area?
Our job is not finished until the project or job is finished the right way.
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
Work with someone who not only has experience but is flexible enough and has enough patience to complete a job to the customer's desire and needs.
What do you like most about the lawn care industry?
I most enjoy working outside and changing a landscape or customers property so they are just as happy to enjoy the outside as I am.

We work in Green Hills, Brentwood and surrounding areas.
