Joe has worked in the lawn care, finish grade and landscaping industry for over a decade. Having worked for larger companies, Joe decided in 2024 that he wanted to venture out on his own and started RDLC. His entrepreneurial spirit, love for being outside, and attention to detail are the perfect match for his new venture, lawn care. How many years have you been in landscaping business, and what inspired you to get started?

I love my mowing business, and I love the people in this business. I feel like we are a unique breed who crave the outdoors and the smell of fresh cut grass. We love sunshine and sweat and making yards look great. For us, there's nothing better than looking back at a yard we just beautifully mowed and proudly saying, "I did that!" Or, when a customer comes home and is so blown away with her yard that she calls to congratulate us on a job well done.I worked in high school seeding and blowing straw to establish a good stand of grass. Most of this was for new construction however some was existing lawns that for different reasons didn’t satisfy the homeowners, which gives one an eye for design that can only be established from a blank slate. This idea of mowing grass for a living has been an evolution from a youth walking from a few jobs in the neighborhood to now having top of the line commercial zero turn mower and managing lawns from bardstown and from one end of I264 to the other and even further on a regular basis. What do you like most about the lawn care industry?

The freedom of running my own business, I’ll always have to perform at my best if not for my clients then for myself after the day is over to know that the hard work was spent doing something good and what is growing next will be a success.
