While studying business at the University of Houston, Edwin was mowing lawns on the side to pay for college. His drive for not having to take out student loans, inadvertently led to his rapid growth of his company. So in 2013, Edwin officially started LYF Landscaping and put his college plans on temporary hold.

Edwin has lived in Katy for over 15 years. "The area is beautiful and the people are great," Edwin says. "I love being able to provide my services to this community."

Melendez now has 4 employees, 2 full-time crews and over 100 residential customers including several commercial properties. A list of commercial properties that Melendez services are some Chase Banks, Meadow Creek subdivision HOA, and various oil and gas companies.

LYF Landscaping mows lawns in Katy, Texas, Richmond, Fulshear, Cinco Ranch, Cross Creek Ranch, Foster, Pecan Grove, Cumings, Rosenberg, and also cuts lawns in Sugar Land, Texas.

Being proactive is what Edwin attributes to his phenomenal growth. "I reach out to my customers each month to let them know of any additional service that they may need but do not know they need," he explains. "The day before I am scheduled to be at a property, I will also reach out and ask them if there is anything else they need me to do while I am there. We strive to be on time and do exactly what we say we are going to do."

Not only will LYF handle your regular mow, edge, and blow, they can also tackle your mulching, tree trimming, shrub and bush trimming, drainage system repair, sprinkler system installation and repair, sodding, pressure washing, aeration, weed spraying, leaf removal, and fertilization.

Edwin enjoys the Houston heat and loves working with his hands. "I really enjoy being outside working and seeing something that I did be appreciated by my customer," Melendez explains. "It gives me a great sense of accomplishment."

When he gets a few minutes to relax, he enjoys spending time with his husky. They love going to Sugar Land Park. He also loves traveling and horseback riding. You can also find him working out and staying healthy at Lifetime fitness in Cinco Ranch.

Melendez also enjoys grabbing some food at Sherlock's Baker Street & Pub on Westheimer Road and also Black Walnut Café on Memorial Drive in Houston, Tx.

Edwin attended William B. Travis High School in Richmond, Texas.
