Needing your Lawn Cut?
This Pro's Story
Late 30’s HVAC/R entrepreneur and maintenance technician
Working in the lawn business about 25% of the time alongside my 18 & 19 year old sons
Single father with Sole Custody of my two sons for the last 8 years
How many years have you been in landscaping business, and what inspired you to get started?
I have a handyman service company and HVAC repair company as a second job. Or more like a side job type of thing. However, having boys at 17 and 18 years old that I can’t quite expect to run heating and air-conditioning service calls I decided to start a lawn business the summer of 2018 with my two sons. So far it’s worked out great they get to make some money and I get to make some extra spending money and everybody’s happy. Plus I get to pass on my solid work ethic and morals to the boys as well and hopefully that is something that will stay with him for a lifetime.
How does your work stand out from other lawn service companies in the area?
I’m not in a huge hurry because I’m not doing 100-300 yards per week. I’m doing like maybe 20 yards and some busier weeks when my sons have a lot of extra time 30 to 40 yards. This allows me to have the time to pay closer attention to detail as well as inspect my work and if something is found on the post mowing walk thru that is not to my liking I have the time to make it right and make it perfect. On a personal level this also allows me time to properly train and teach my two young men about work ethic and proper standards to be upheld in any working environment.
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
Don’t worry, I won’t bite off more than I can chew I have a full time job with the handyman service that I’m trying to grow. Therefore I only choose jobs that fit my equipment and work output. You never have to worry about me not being able to get the job done & done right because I won’t show up to a pasture with a crew of 5 on 4 beat up Murray riding lawnmowers and one weed eater when the job calls for a couple of kabotaa with brush hogs. So relax and enjoy the results. Thank you!
What do you like most about the lawn care industry?
Despite the hot temperatures in the summer the rest of the year around and even then in the summer my lawn business is a good way to slow down from my normal every day job. It is actually a way for me to relax and just think (about whatever might be on my mind that I need to have some time to ponder on) as well as an opportunity to forge more working relationships with the people of Fort Worth, my hometown. Not to mention the fact that a little slice of nature and fresh air is good for the mind body and spirit!
