How many years have you been in landscaping business, and what inspired you to get started?
I have been in the Landscape and Lawn Maint. business for 20+ years. I worked for a big Landscaping company right out of High School doing Landscape Enhancements and working on a Lawn Maint. crew. Once I started learning the In’s and outs I became a Crew Forman. Once I became a Forman I knew one day I would have my own company and that day finally came in 2009.
How does your work stand out from other lawn service companies in the area?
I switch the mowing patterns frequently to prevent rutting and I always mow grass leaving it at a healthy height. I have dedicated mowers for certain turfs meaning I have mowers that I use only on St.Augustine turf and I have mowers that I use only on Bahia grass. The mowers I use on St. Augustine have full mulch kits to prevent cut blades of grass from stacking up on your freshly cut lawn. Another thing we do is we sharpen blades every day to ensure a clean cut to help keep the tips of the grass from turning brown.
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
I have been in the Landscape industry for 20+ years and I feel blessed to have watched this industry evolve into what it is today. I definitely think you should look at the bigger picture when hiring somebody to do work at your house and ask questions about there background and maybe even ask for references. There’s so much more to choosing the right person/company for the job at hand. It’s not always about whose the cheapest!!
What do you like most about the lawn care industry?
What I like most about the industry is educating home owners about the plants/landscape arraignments they have in there yard. I always seem to get asked for suggestions on what we can do to make there Landscaping look better!! When I get asked that question my mind instantly goes to work on ideas of how we can redesign the landscaping to make it look better and wow the homeowners.
What areas do you mainly service?
DeLand, Orange City, and some Deltona areas.
