This Pro's Story
Hello! I’m Melinda and I started Girls Do it Better Lawn and Yard Care a little over a year ago. Just so you know we’ve grown and have incorporated guys into the business but only if they have the same belief of paying attention to detail and servicing every property as they would their own, that’s hw we started off GDIB and that’s how it will continur to be. To so many other lawn care companies it’s just how many yards they can plow throw in a day, leaving out the little things and the personal touch that we all give to our own property, so that’s what we continue to do. We may not get the most yards done in a day but if your on our schedule you know your lawn will be cared for and taken care of as if you were doing it yourself.
How many years have you been in landscaping business, and what inspired you to get started?
GDIB was created a year ago after I saw the need for lawn care with more of a personal touch. I have been around lawn care and landscaping since I was 14 years old and started working at my step dads landscaping company during the summer time. I helped out over the next 6 years over the summer and then full time when I got out of school.
How does your work stand out from other lawn service companies in the area?
GDIT stands out from other lawn service providers because of the attention that we give to each and every property. Still to the day when I go out to do a lawn, yo will always find me pulling any weeds in the hardscape and beds, picking up and trash or debri, and walking around with any killer to rid the property of any ant mounds! When mowing flying ants are never fun, so we treat them when we see them so when we return their no longer an issue.
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
When hiring a provider ask questions. Find out how many properties they are servicing. What is included in THEIR mowing services. What happens if it rains when will you be rescheduled? It’s always good with any service provider to ask loys of questions so your fully informed and in the loop of what’s going on with your property! What do you like most about the lawn care industry?
What I like most about the lawn care and landscaping industry is watch transformation happen. It’s amazing to see how a property can look completely different just buy having the lawn cut, edged, and blown down and the weeds pulled, that alone makes a difference that is amazing. Then when you get into the landscape aspect and creating beds and gardens, it’s really an amazing thing to see how a priority can take in a whole new look.
What areas do you mainly service?
We service the GREATER New Orleans and surrounding areas including, aUptown, Mid city, the 7th ward, the 9th ward, Arabi, Chalmette, the East, the West Bank, Jefferson, Metairie, Harrahan, and Kenner.
