How many years have you been in landscaping business, and what inspired you to get started?

Been going strong now for four years, between working with established companies (Chapel Valley Landscaping/Class A Grounds Management). It was the first job since transitioning out of the military that fits. It's something that I can use what I know to give the best work possible while giving the flexibility to control my workload, tempo, and results.

How does your work stand out from other lawn service companies in the area?

There are two ideas that I keep in mind when pulling out the trailer; first, is that the small things matter and the other is every job is an interview. Taking care of those little details during a job can make a difference, whether it's pulling weeds here and there to cutting those branches that you continuously have to duck when moving down your walkway can set you apart from the competition. Which leads me to the second idea that when you do these little tasks, it potentially catches the eye of more potential clients.

What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

It's a professional relationship, plain and simple. You want a $20 cut....expect a $20 result! When they are nowhere to be found in a couple of weeks, then realize no business can survive off $20. It should be a simple process with little confusion. If a provider can't articulate an answer behind his reasoning, then it's probably a sure-shot they're shooting from the hip.

What do you like most about the lawn care industry?

It's an underrated but rewarding industry. The trick is all how you make it work...what one does will not always work for someone else.

Chesterfield, Richmond, Henrico & Petersburg.
